I was asked by The Rolex Foundation to make a film celebrating marine biologist Sylvia Earl’s groundbreaking work to save the oceans. Founded with the support of TED, Sylvia’s initiative Mission Blue has identified critical marine Hope Spots around the globe.
This was another shoot where the continuing pandemic forced us to adapt the production process. We sent a remote team to interview Sylvia and for the rest of the film we trawled through Mission Blue’s archive footage to create this powerful film.
In collaboration with the National Geographic Channel the film launched on Earth Day 2021. It has also transcended its original use as a film for the Rolex Foundation and is now being used by the Rolex brand under their #perpetual theme.
